Soon after leaving the BBC 1 competition "Any Dream Will Do" Ben successfully auditioned for Hairspray and landed the role of Link Larkin. His first performance was 11th October 2007. The official opening night was 30th October 2007. His last performance was 25th July 2009.

Ben James-Ellis played the award winning part of Link Larkin in the original London cast of London's popular West End Show, Hairspray. Ben also played along side Michael Ball aswell as newcomer Leanne Jones who both finished the show at the same time as Ben.

He played his final award winning performance as Link Larkin on Saturday 25th July 2009. Ben would like to thank his dedicated fans and family for their continued love and support throughout the run and Hairspray will always be close to his heart.
